How to Reduce Burnout by Using Days by Design with Brittany Dixon (HHR EP039)

Mar 21, 2023

"If it’s dragging you down, it’s time to hit delete."

Hopefully you're not feeling burned out but if you are, keep reading.

I've got some nuggets today from a podcast episode with the incredible Brittany Dixon. Let’s dive into how to reduce burnout and design your days for success!

Burnout. Just reading the word might make you feel a tad exhausted. We’ve all been there, right? You start out all fired up, ready to conquer the world, but somewhere along the way, that passion turns into a steamy puddle of stress and exhaustion. The good news? We don’t have to stay trapped in this cycle. Enter Brittany Dixon, our guest superstar, who shared her game-changing insights on how to tackle burnout and reclaim your time.

First up, Brittany zeroed in on the importance of time management. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Ugh, time management tips again?" But trust me, Brittany's approach is a breath of fresh air. She doesn't just talk about managing time; she talks about designing your days with purpose and intention. Here are some key takeaways you can start implementing today:

1. Purge and Detox

Just like your wardrobe or pantry, your calendar needs a good clean-out too. Brittany recommends evaluating your commitments and removing anything that doesn’t excite you or align with your goals. If it’s dragging you down, it’s time to hit delete. This applies to both digital and physical clutter.

2. Processes and Systems

Systems are the backbone of a well-oiled machine. Brittany suggests having a single task management system, a streamlined CRM, and an organized calendar. These tools are essential for keeping things running smoothly without the overwhelm. Simplicity here is key—less is definitely more.

3. Planning and Strategy

Goals, my friends, are your guiding stars. Without clear goals, you’re just sailing aimlessly. Brittany advises regularly revisiting and adjusting your plans based on these goals. This keeps your ship on course, no matter how stormy the seas get.

4. Productivity on Purpose

Lastly, Brittany emphasizes intentional action. It’s not about doing all the things; it’s about doing the right things. Pool your energy into activities that move you and your business forward.

One of my favorite parts of our chat was when Brittany talked about setting aside specific blocks of time for different types of activities—admin work, sales, personal time. By creating these dedicated blocks, you avoid overloading your schedule and keep that stress at bay.

Now, if you’re nodding along thinking this sounds like the magic pill you’ve been searching for, here’s an insider’s tip. Brittany’s "Days by Design" method is a beautiful blend of simplicity and strategy. By purging clutter, setting up seamless systems, and crafting a clear plan, you can create a lifestyle that feels both productive and peaceful.

Oh, and if you want to dive deeper into Brittany’s method and get some awesome behind-the-scenes resources, head over to her website. It’s packed with goodies to help you design your dream days.

Before I sign off, remember this: You started your business to make an impact, not to run yourself into the ground. Embrace these strategies, allow yourself the space to breathe, and watch how you flourish.
