Is It Really Your Hormones? The Gut-Hormone Connection with Chelsie Ward (HHR EP036)

Mar 24, 2023

"f you are in perimenopause or postmenopausal, there are more things to consider but your gut health, no matter what stage of your life you are in, is critical."

I am thrilled to share some incredibly insightful information from one of my fave episodes of "Happy Healthy and Rich." If you haven't listened yet, you absolutely must! Our guest, Chelsie Ward, is a registered nurse, FDN practitioner, and spiritual healer with a heart full of passion for helping women conquer hormone and digestive imbalances.

Hormones and the Gut: The Core Connection

Ok, let's dive in. You've all heard the buzz about gut health, but did you know your gut could be the mastermind behind those sneaky hormone issues too? From insulin to sex hormones like estrogen and progesterone, to thyroid hormone, adrenaline, and cortisol – these little chemical messengers dance a delicate waltz, and when one wobbles, it can throw the whole routine off.

So, what's causing these hormone hiccups and how do we get back to a harmonious dance? Chelsie shared some pure gold nuggets that can help us address root causes and find that harmony again.

If you are in perimenopause or postmenopausal, there are more things to consider but your gut health, no matter what stage of your life you are in, is critical.

The Culprit: Poor Gut Health

Don't you just love when the answer is right under your nose – or should I say in your belly? Poor gut health is often the sneaky culprit behind those pesky hormone imbalances. Symptoms like estrogen dominance, weight gain, mood swings, skin problems, and even autoimmune conditions often trace back to our digestive health (or lack thereof).

Dietary Roadblocks

One of Chelsie's key takeaways is the importance of addressing what we put into our bodies. Gluten, dairy, and sugar – those three bad boys – can wreak havoc on our digestive system and, by extension, our hormones. Try removing these culprits from your diet and see how your body sings a happier tune.

Love Your Liver

Our liver works tirelessly to detoxify our bodies, and it deserves some TLC. Integrate liver-loving foods like lemon, grapefruit, beets, and dandelion greens into your meals to help it out. A happy liver means less bloating and smoother hormone function. Your digestive system will thank you!

Rest Equals Reset

And let’s not forget the magic of a good night’s sleep. Quality sleep is crucial for cortisol regulation and overall healing. Aim for those dreamy 7-8 hours; it’s like hitting the reset button overnight.

Simple Lifestyle Changes, Big Impact

Here's the exciting part – making these shifts doesn't mean you'll be in limbo forever. Just a couple of weeks to a few months of these changes can lead to noticeable improvements in your overall health. It’s about consistency and listening to your body’s signals.

I hope you find these insights as empowering as I did. Let's continue our journey towards happy, healthy, and rich lives by nurturing our guts and balancing our hormones. Until next time, remember: your health is your wealth!
