How to Get Things Going the Way You Want Following Disappointment with Jenna Brocious (HHR EP042)

May 01, 2023

"Dream big, absolutely, but also be kind to yourself by setting expectations that aren’t sky-high."

I’m beyond excited to delve into a topic that I know hits close to home for so many of us: How to get things going the way you want following disappointment.

We’ve all been there, right? That moment when the universe hands you a big, steaming plate of "Nope, not today." Maybe it's a launch that didn’t skyrocket the way you envisioned, or perhaps it’s that raise you've been working your tail off for but didn’t get. Yes, disappointment stings, but guess what? We’re going to turn that sting into a springboard! Ready? Let's dive in.

First, I want to introduce you to Jenna Brocious, a wife, mother, and spiritual intuitive who joined me on Happy Healthy and Rich. Jenna has mastered the art of transforming disappointment into a stepping stone for success, and she’s here to guide us through this empowering process.

Setting Realistic Expectations and Boundaries

One of the gems Jenna dropped during our chat was the concept of setting realistic expectations. Dream big, absolutely, but also be kind to yourself by setting expectations that aren’t sky-high. This isn’t about lowering your standards—it's about protecting your peace. Remember, you can’t hold people (or situations) to an agreement they didn’t sign up for. Isn’t that liberating?

Creating and Honoring Boundaries

Honing in on boundaries was another biggy. Jenna emphasized the importance of defining your safe space. Imagine boundaries as your personal bubble. It’s absolutely okay to say "no" to things that don’t serve you or bring you joy. Trust me, your sanity and well-being will thank you.

Mastering the Mental Shift

Jenna shared something that truly resonated with me—mastering the mindset that everything is working in your favor. I know, it might sound a bit Pollyanna-ish, but hear me out. When a launch doesn't take off, instead of spiraling down the disappointment drain, consider it a nudge towards something even greater. The universe (or insert your guiding force here) often has better plans than you can imagine.

Finding Peace and Moving Forward

To put it into perspective, think about the last time you didn’t get what you wanted, only to find something even better around the corner. Exactly. Jenna’s story about having several businesses that didn’t succeed before finding her true calling is a testament to this idea. She kept pushing forward with faith in the bigger picture, and it paid off beautifully.

Positive Thinking—Your Daily Dose of Sunshine

Alright, so here’s a little homework: Tomorrow morning, before your feet even hit the ground, declare that it’s going to be a great day. Carry that energy with you, no matter what comes your way. And when things get bumpy (because let’s face it, life loves a plot twist), take a deep breath and remind yourself: everything is working in my favor.

Tools and Tricks to Keep in Your Back Pocket

1. Reset with a Breath: Whenever you hit a snag, pause, take a deep breath, and reset your mindset. It’s a game-changer.

2. Affirmations: Simple, positive statements like “Today is going to be a great day” can shift your entire outlook.

3. Cool, Calm, Collected: Adopt Jenna’s family mantra. Approach challenges with a composed mindset, and watch how easily solutions appear.

Remember, it’s all about the journey. Life is for thriving, not just surviving. And I've got a feeling that with these insights, you’re well on your way to making disappointment your new springboard to success.

Until next time, keep smiling, keep believing, and keep rocking your journey. And don't forget—I'm cheering you on every step of the way!
