I have to admit that 2018 was one of those years where I had my ass handed to me. It wasn’t gentle or kind. It was more like that critical narcissistic boyfriend who wants to make sure that you are beyond misery, always at fault (even though you aren’t), and wanting to hide in a corner with wine….in the box.
Some of the shit show in 2018 was my own damn fault and some of it was people being people in the most undelightful of ways. Sprinkle in health woes and money ups and downs and voila….the perfect shit sundae with peanuts (FYI…I’m allergic).
As you all know, I am online ALL the time for my biz so I see the other stories of 2018 that make the whole wanting to curl up into a ball while sucking your thumb seem like a common theme for this year gone by.
Grab the last of that box wine because it’s about to get real up in here. The good news is that the knowledge I’m about to drop on you will have...
It didn’t go unnoticed nor did it shock me that yet another big retailer has bit the dust. I have to admit that this one saddened me a bit. Without aging myself too badly, I am old enough to remember when Sears was THE place to go (especially for tools, appliances, and “manly” things) and Kmart was a savior for those families who didn’t have a lot of money to throw around. I still remember the twinge of sadness many years ago when the Kmart in my hometown closed.
The truth is the writing was on the wall in my mind as far back as ten years ago. You know…a timeframe where some major work could have been done to reverse the news we have splashed all over the news today.
Now I’m not foolish enough to think that the few things I list here are all they would have needed to survive. I understand that leadership woes and financials can have a huge impact as well. But let’s dive into the things that have stood out to me as boldly as the scene in...
Being an entrepreneur is no joke, especially if you are juggling multiple things in life – being a momma, working full-time, or both. This can make our goals seem impossible and cause us to wave the white flag on our dreams (which are there for a reason by the way).
In this article, I’m going to talk about a technique that will have you reaching those goals and finally exclaiming, “I did it!!!”
I’m going to break it down into steps for you.
1. Pick one thing to tackle.
First, you want to look at which item or items on your to-do list for your business will get you the most traction. Is it that book? Is it that course you can’t seem to get created? A program that you have stuck in your head that will help thousands of women? Or even a Facebook live promise to yourself – 30 days straight or bust? Let your intuition guide you…it’s rarely wrong.
2. Figure out the...
For any entrepreneur, self-care is a critical piece of keeping our sanity and keeping the quality of our work top notch. But for the woman who also has a chronic illness, it’s even more critical to have a solid practice in place to take care of you so you can handle the demands of both your business and your chronic illness.
Contrary to popular belief, not all self-care is related directly to health. In this article, I’m going to hit on my five favorites for staying in this crazy game called entrepreneurship without wiping yourself out or feeling like throwing in the towel every other day.
1. Schedule in your health related must-dos.
So this one you were probably expecting. I am going to interject a little tough love here though. For a lot of us, we are trying so hard to keep up with the hustlas that we don’t give ourselves permission to slow down and execute those fancy health regiments we have set up for ourselves so we don’t go off the deep end of...

When you are a female entrepreneur with chronic illness, there are a myriad of additional obstacles that you have to overcome when trying to run a business. As if all of the “regular” obstacles aren’t enough. Can I get an amen?
I often run across women who get discouraged or don’t think they can do it themselves and ask me how in the world I do everything I do while dealing with the impromptu brain fog and overwhelming fatigue that Fibromyalgia can toss out there whenever it feels like it. Fibro is like that great kid that decides to have a tantrum at the WORST possible time. Every. Single. Time.
Gather in closely because I’m going to tell you my secrets and then I’m going to share the stories of 6 other women to inspire and guide you if you are working your way through some of the same struggles.
The Answer to the Question, “How...
One of the most common questions I get asked is how to know how much is too much when it comes to free value. And I have to give my wishy washy answer….it depends. It depends on your business, what your goals are, what you are leading up to, and more.
What I can say is that your intuition can be a powerful tool. If you start to feel icky like I did about providing something free then it’s probably time to reign that in. Truth be told, my Instagram Famous Biz Babe Challenge, Load Up Your List Challenge and several Masterclasses I did this year ALL should have been paid offerings. Every single one. And participants told me that!
Today what I want to talk about is some guidelines to help you determine where to put on the brakes when sharing. Have you ever noticed that lately all of the posts in Facebook groups seem to be rah rah post without much substance? They are getting you excited and reeling you in without...
This is a tough topic because nobody wants to admit they may be to blame for their client attraction woes but the truth is, that is usually where the blame lies. Let’s dive in.

1. Lack of Clarity
I see women every day who cannot easily tell me what they do and who they serve. This is a huge problem because if you don’t know, your potential clients don’t know either. If they see you posting about weight loss one day and Fibromyalgia tips the next, they are going to be confused.
You need to choose what you are going to be THE expert in and stay in your lane. The only way to be that expert and provide what your people want and will PAY for is to live it, love it and do it. Every damn day.
2. Mindset Woes and Fear
Women seem to have a natural tendency to collect mindset woes like party favors and then add a nice dose of fear to top off the mix.
Are you a collector?
Some of the most...
After I got done doing one of my lives last week, someone asked me to expand upon what self-sabotage is and what it looks like in business. Having done TONS of work on making sure this doesn’t happen myself I admittedly forgot that we don’t talk about this enough because it’s a “touchy” topic.
Anyone who knows me understands that I feel honesty is the best policy and so we are just going to go ahead and dive into this thing!
Comparisonitis is this icky (technical term) thing what we do when we start comparing ourselves and our success to others. It can be comparing to people who have been in business longer than we have which isn’t even fair to ourselves because we haven’t had the same amount of time to rock it. It could also be looking at people at the same level who seem to have it all together. The issue here is that they often...
Online business is an odd duck. I remember as a newbie struggling with the whole give away the farm for free thing. Yes, yours truly had the BIG mindset issue around giving away free value. Now I LOVE it!
When people say that people will still work with you even if you give tons of free value, it’s true. One major theme I’ve noticed in all of the sales books I’ve read lately is even they say to be of service, provide value, overdeliver, etc.
What’s in it for you?
You get to show your stuff (think shake what your momma gave ya only in a business sense)! My favorite ways to do this are through masterclasses (aka training, webinars, etc), challenges and PDF freebies. I’m also a huge fan of free calls to help people with a problem they are having. Huge opportunity there to show what you’re throwing down.
I know a lot of people have a hard time figuring out how to put something like this together...
